Level of Difficulty:

Join an unprecedented journey, venturing to be one of the first to explore this authentic Maloca. We were the pioneers who visited this Genuine Maloca with the Matsés indigenous people, who live in isolation and maintain their ancestral customs.

This exclusive itinerary includes a flight from Iquitos to Colonia Angamos, followed by an extraordinary return—a 50 km (31 ml) hike through the lush jungle. Given the unpredictable nature of weather conditions, flights are subject to possible postponements by the operator, highlighting the importance of allocating spare days post-program.

For the wildlife enthusiasts among you, seeking an immersive experience with isolated indigenous, we recommend our 15-Day Matsés Expedition.

The Matsés were initially known as the ‘bearded men’ due to their facial ornaments. While this characteristic partly contributed to their reputation for ferocity, for the Matsés, these ornaments represented a form of identity and, among themselves, a symbol of beauty.

Deep within the Amazon rainforest, they preserve their primitive culture as expert hunters and gatherers, relying on their physical prowess and intimate knowledge of the jungle for survival. Their belief system intricately intertwines with nature, where plants and animals hold profound spiritual significance in their worldview.
